Setting up a server in Linode (part 2)

After getting an account in Linode, now we will create and then boot our server.

First, at the Linode website, we will Log Into our account to access the control panel or Linode Manager.

Once inside, we go to the Dashboard, and there select Deploy a Linux Distribution.

A window with the basic options for the server creation will appear:
  • Distribution (we can choose between several version of Arch, Ubuntu, Debian, openSuse Fedora, Gentoo and Slackware),
  • Hard Disk size
  • Swap size
  • and Root password

We choose the options according to our wishes and then click the Deploy button. Linode will create the server with the selected parameters and will send us an email telling about the action taken.

After creating the server, now we must start it up. Click on the Boot button and the server will boot and will be ready to use.

In the Remote Access tab of the Linode Manager we can see the IP address of our newly created server.

Then, using ssh finally we will be able to log into our shiny server for the first time.

And now, let's have fun :-)

Suggestion: take a look and become familiar with the different options of the Linode Manager, as well as with the great documentation available in the Linode website.
